"Art Fights Back" is a collection of posters inspired by the events of September 11, honoring our military and the spirit of American patriotism. Using art to heal a wounded nation, it combines historical, artistic and cultural elements in order to help Americans deal with a tragedy that has forever changed our way of life.

By bringing an artistic perspective to these current events, it is our objective to encourage a new attitude in the general public: one of open communication and appreciation for each other and for the world of visual communications.

By joining together and capturing the images indelibly etched in the hearts and minds of our fellow Americans, it is possible to make history, gain recognition for the arts in Iowa, and help ease the suffering of those who have lost so much. Originally, the development of the first few posters were simply an artistic response to current events. As the number of images grew, however, so have the possibilities for them, which now include not only the exhibition, but using the images in various fundraising activities to support relief efforts.
